PROGRAM HELPS TO BEAT OFF RECESSION FOR INTERIOR DESIGNERS
A recession-beating program is gaining popularity with interior designers across the country.
The program returns control of residential and commercial kitchen and other cabinetry projects back to interior design professionals and provides them with an increased profit margin over the traditional procedure, where interior designers have previously gone with their client to the cabinetry dealer. “This puts the interior designers in the advantageous position of themselves being the dealer, thus providing them with greater control of the project and making their business more profitable,” explained co-owner Deborah Oertle, .
Deborah has over 30 years’ experience in high-end cabinetry design and manufacture and is a former owner of the flagship showroom of Rutt of Chicago in the Chicago Merchandise Mart. The program has been developed by Debi in conjunction with her partner Stephen James Smith, “to give kudos back to the interior design professional”. Added Debi, “For too long, designers have received little reward for their efforts. Our model not only rewards interior designers for their creativity but also helps their business in the face of the current difficult economic climate.”
Between them, the couple has developed the business, Deborah James Coastal Kitchens, as a nationwide service to interior design professionals. And within a year they have ten offices in key locations across the country. Dozens of interior design professionals have already signed up to the program, which requires no fees nor commitments and no exclusivities – interior designers are free to use whichever alternative suppliers they wish.
However, as in the case of Suzanna Lawler-Isco, who runs an interior design firm in Winter Park, Florida, once they use the services of the company, they want to come back for more: “This is a fantastic service,” said Suzanna, a member of ASID (The American Society of Interior Designers). “Deborah’s experience in the industry has been a boon to my business, and the program has enabled us to increase our profitability in the face of the current gloomy economic outlook.”
Concluded Suzanna, “At last, I can get back to being an interior designer while DJCK does all the work... and my business is able to make a larger profit than it has previously been able to do!”
